National Heath Service and Primary Care Trust
Remade South East offers sustainable waste management advice and training to National Health Services and Primary Care Trusts across the South East of England. The aim of the support is to achieve carbon reductions through reducing waste disposal costs, introducing best practice and improving performance.
The support focuses on undertaking a comprehensive waste management audit to identify the environmental risks, legislative requirements and assess legal compliance whilst making recommendations to improve waste segregation, recycling rates, staff training and waste policy conformity.
The support seeks to initiate an approach to reduce waste disposal costs by improving waste management practices and contribute to the waste minimisation, recycling and carbon reduction targets set out in the NHS Sustainable Development Units 'NHS Carbon reduction Strategy for England' (January 2009).
Organisations who have received support from Remade include: Bromley Primary Care Trust, Frimley Park Hospital, Royal Surrey County Hospital and The South East Coast Ambulance Service.
